Everything we take on

Every job below is one we do ourselves across Huntington Beach.

Deck Installation

We build new decks from the footings up, sized and framed to the load you actually plan to put on them, furniture, a hot tub, a crowd at a barbecue. We can work in pressure-treated lumber, cedar, or composite decking, and we'll walk through the tradeoffs of each before you decide.

Deck Repair

Soft or spongy boards, a railing that shifts when you lean on it, a joist that's cracked or rotted where it meets the ledger. We replace what's actually failed and leave the sound lumber alone instead of rebuilding the whole deck when it doesn't call for it.

Deck Staining & Sealing

Sun and salt air bleach and dry out wood fast on this stretch of coast. We pressure-wash, let the boards dry fully, then apply a stain or sealer rated for UV and moisture, usually every one to two years depending on sun exposure.

Custom Deck Design

Multi-level decks, built-in benches, a pergola over part of the space, whatever the yard and the slope call for. We draw it out and price it before any lumber gets ordered.

Composite Decking Installation

Composite boards don't splinter, don't require restaining, and hold up better against salt air than most wood species. We install brands like Trex and TimberTech with hidden fastener systems so you don't see a single screw head on the surface.

Deck Railing Installation & Repair

Loose posts, missing balusters, or a railing height that won't pass inspection. We rebuild to current code spacing, which matters most if you've got small kids or you're getting ready to sell.

Deck Resurfacing

If the frame underneath is still solid, we can replace just the decking boards and railing instead of tearing the whole structure out. It's a faster job and costs a lot less than a full rebuild.

Deck Demolition & Removal

We tear out old decks, pull every nail and fastener, and haul the debris off. This is usually the first step before a rebuild, but we'll do it as a standalone job too.

Pergolas & Deck Covers

Shade structures, louvered covers, or a simple pergola attached to an existing deck. These add usable outdoor space without the cost of a full room addition.

Deck Framing & Structural Repair

Rotted joists, an undersized beam, footings that have shifted or settled. This is the part of the deck nobody sees, and it's the part that decides whether the deck is safe to stand on.

How It Works

Four steps, and no surprises in any of them.

01

We come and look

You tell us what you want doing, we look at what is actually there, and we ask the awkward questions early.

02

You get a price

In writing, itemised, free. If something might add cost later we flag it now rather than at the end.

03

We do the work

Same crew throughout. We cover your floors, keep the dust down and tidy up before we leave each day.

04

We walk it with you

You point out anything you are not happy with and we fix it before the invoice, not after.

Common Questions

Things worth asking

Questions that come up once a deck project actually gets underway.

Do I need a permit for a new deck?
Most cities in Orange County require a permit for any deck attached to a house or built more than 30 inches above grade. Coastal Deck Solutions pulls the permit and schedules the inspection as part of the job, so the homeowner isn't dealing with the city directly.
How long does a deck build typically take?
A standard deck installation usually takes one to two weeks from the start of framing to the final coat of sealer, weather and material lead times permitting. Larger multi-level decks or ones with a pergola attached take longer, closer to three to four weeks.
Can you work within a set budget?
Budget gets discussed before material selection, not after. If composite decking pushes the number too high, pressure-treated lumber with a good sealer can get most of the same look and function for less.
Do you guarantee your work?
Workmanship is covered for a set period after completion, and that's spelled out in the written quote. Manufacturer warranties on materials like composite decking or specific hardware are separate and get passed along at the time of purchase.
Who do I deal with day to day during the project?
One person from the crew stays as the main point of contact for the length of the project, so questions don't bounce between different people. That contact is reachable by phone throughout the build.
What decking materials do you use?
Pressure-treated pine, cedar, and composite decking, including brands like Trex and TimberTech, are the main materials used, along with stainless or hot-dip galvanized fasteners on every job. Regular zinc-coated hardware corrodes too fast in salt air to hold up long-term near the coast.
Can I still use my yard while the deck is being built?
Part of the yard stays off-limits while framing and decking are underway, but most of the property stays usable. Access for equipment and material staging is the main thing planned around a homeowner's schedule.
How should I prepare the yard before work starts?
Clearing furniture, potted plants, and anything stored under or near the existing deck ahead of time speeds up the start of the job. Anything left in the work area typically has to be moved by the crew before demolition can begin, which eats into the schedule.
What happens if something unexpected turns up mid-job?
Rotted joists, undersized framing, or a ledger board that was never flashed properly are common finds once an old deck comes off. Any of that gets flagged and priced before replacement, rather than covered over with new decking on top of a bad frame.
How should I maintain the deck once it's finished?
A new deck should be resealed or restained roughly every one to two years depending on sun exposure, more often on south-facing decks that take direct sun most of the day. Sweeping debris out from between boards and keeping planters off direct wood contact also extends the life of the decking.
